Major General Mitchell graduated from the U.S. Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned on 22 May 1985 at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps. He also holds Master’s Degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School and the Army War College.
